A few weeks ago I was reading some blue posts on MMO-Champion and I came across an idea that seemed great. The idea was changing the way Eclipse is activated (Proc'ed) in order for balance druid not to get bored of spamming Wrath until lunar eclipse proc or spam Starfire until solar eclipse proc. Because deep down inside all of us Moonkin there is a little voice that says "this is getting old and when will I get my eclipse proc."
Here is the original discussion: (Source)
It makes eclipse more of a definite % proc rather than a guess at any rate. Now imagine that for every wrath you would receive a 20% chance to proc eclipse and after the fifth wrath cast you would have a 100% chance to proc your lunar eclipse. Rather than spam an undefined number of wraths until you eventually get to your lunare eclipse. To me that is amazing and I personally think it would boost our dps into the sky. Right now if we do over 4k dps its great but imagine holding above 6 or 7k dps with that assured proc rate. The current eclipse format has made us resort to using mods like SquawkAndAwe to track the cooldown of our eclipse. Either way its a great mod and a must have for balance druids. If you don't like the size of it you can always resort to Quartz which has an extension called Quartz: Eclipse Module which has a smaller timer plus other cool features.
I remember during The Burning Crusade we had a balance druid in our raids only because of the aura. The 5% critical chance helped our casters do more damage in the long run. During that time most groups in 5 mans did not want a balance druid because they usually didn't do an outstanding amount of damage as we do now. Hence me tanking and not dpsing as a space chicken.
If at any point in time eclipse worked the way the blue post describe it we could have to change out names to Doomkins. Mainly because after the fifth wrath cast we would have a 100% chance to proc lunar eclipse and see those 20k crits destory the meters. We would be a more viable to a raid composition than we are now because we would bring an immense amount of damage to the raid.
